For the first 53 years of my life, I lived in that exact same Fridley home, soaking in the unique energies of a city that was, quite literally, inventing itself the very year I arrived. And today, the universe has brought me full circle, living right back in Fridley where the epicenter of Minnesota magic resides.

Minneapolis is a city built on illusion, mystery, and wonder. It is the proud birthplace of the Eagle Magic Store, the oldest continuously running retail magic shop in the entire United States. Generations of mystics, sleight-of-hand artists, and illusionists have passed through its doors, pulling secrets out of the ether. The air in Minneapolis is thick with intrigue, acting as a beacon for the upcoming MinnesotaMagicFestival.com, a celebration meant to awaken the sleeping wonder of our region.
But while Minneapolis held the storefront of illusion, the actual brainchild—the engine room where raw potential was being manufactured into reality—was shifting north to Fridley.

Before 1957, Fridley was technically classified as a village. But the cosmos had bigger plans.
Just weeks before my birth, on May 23, 1957, Fridley officially shed its “village” status and became a Home Rule Charter City. It was granted the ultimate power: the power of self-governance and manifestation. It was as if the universe cleared the stage, changing the city’s very identity to prepare for a new kind of creative energy.
The moment I took my first breath in June of that year, a tidal wave of expansion hit the newly minted city. It wasn’t just suburban growth; it was a masterclass in materializing something out of nothing:
